  1. Installing NetWare for SAA V1.3.14
  2. July 7, 1993

  4. A. Will you be installing NetWare for SAA on an existing NetWare 3.11
  5. server?
  6.  
  7. If YES
  8.   1. Down the server
  9.   2. Exit to DOS
  10.   3. Back up the server (installed files will overwrite existing files)
  11.  
  12. If NO 
  13.   1. Create a DOS partition, of at least 15MB, on the hard drive.
  14.   2. Create a subdirectory for the SYSTEM-1 diskette. (See NetWare 3.11
  15.   Installation Guide).
  16.   3. Install the NetWare 3.11 Operating System.
  17.   4. Load the NIC drivers and bind IPX to the NIC.
  18.  
  19. B. Then create two subdirectories on a hard drive (if this is a network
  20. drive do not create them in the system directory).
  21.   - One named COMMEXEC
  22.   XCopy (for the C: drive, XCOPY A:\*.* C:[path]\COMMEXEC\*.*/S/V the
  23.   following diskettes into the directory (XCOPY:
  24.         Commexec Disk 1
  25.         Commexec Disk 2
  26.         Commexec Disk 3 
  27.   - One named NWSAA
  28.   XCopy, in the same manner, the following diskettes into the NWSAA
  29.   directory:
  30.         Installation Disk 1
  31.         Installation Disk 2
  32.         Installation Disk 3

  34. C. Patch SERVER.EXE:
  35.   1. From Disk #7 (Misc. Support Files Disk 1 of 2) copy XLOAD.EXE and
  36.   LDR001.PTF to the directory where SERVER.EXE is located.
  37.   2. Make sure your DOS partition has enough space for another copy of
  38.   SERVER.EXE.
  39.   3. Execute the following command from the directory where SERVER.EXE is
  40.   located:
  41.      XLOAD LDR001.PTF SERVER.EXE
  42.  
  43. D. Edit STARTUP.NCF file.  (see Chapter 3 of the Administration Guide for
  44. details).
  45.  
  46. E. Enter SERVER to bring up the 3.11 Operating System.
  47.  
  48. F. Establish a network connection to the server.
  49.  
  50. G. Go to SYS:SYSTEM and enter; FLAG *.* +SRW 
  51. H. From the workstation copy to SYS:SYSTEM on the NetWare for SAA server:
  52.      1. Disk #7, (Misc. Support Files Disk 1 of 2).
  53.      2. All files from the BTRIEVE subdirectory of Disk #8 (Misc. Support
  54.      Files Disk 2 of 2).  See BTRIEVE README for details.

  56. I. UNLOAD BTRIEVE if it is loaded.

  58. J. ENTER
  59.         LOAD BTRIEVE -p=4096
  60.  
  61. K. ENTER
  62.         LOAD INSTALL
  63.  
  64. L. Select Product Options and press ENTER.
  65.  
  66. M. At the Currently Installed Products window:
  67.      1. press <Insert>. 
  68.      2. ENTER
  69.            C:[path]\COMMEXEC
  70.      3. Press <insert> and enter C:[path]\NWSAA to install NetWare for SAA.

  72. N. Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF (see Chapter 3 of the Administration Guide for more
  73. detailed instructions)
  74.      1. ESCape to the Installation Options menu.
  75.      2. Select System Options.
  76.      3. Select Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF option and add the following in order:
  77.         LOAD CLIB
  78.         LOAD LSLENH
  79.         LOAD SPXFIX2      
  80.            (NOTE:SPXFIX2 is in STRTLI.EXE in Compuserve NOVLIB Library 9) 
  81.         LOAD SPXS
  82.         LOAD BTRIEVE -u=1 -p=4096 -f=20 -h=60 -l=20 -c
  83.  
  84.         SET MAXIMUM PACKET RECEIVE BUFFERS=2000
  85.         ;LOAD command for adapter card (a token ring example follows)
  86.            LOAD TOKEN port=OA20 int=2 node=70930004 name=ADPT1
  87.         ;LOAD and BIND commands for IPX network connection

  90.         LOAD COMMEXEC
  91.         LOAD DLM
  92.         LOAD SMA

  94. O. ESCape to the server prompt.
  95.  
  96. P. Down and EXIT server.

  98. Q. At the DOS prompt, run SERVER.EXE.

  100. R. After the server comes up configure your profiles (see Chapter 5 of the
  101. Administration Guide for details)
